Play to Learn

At Ramanui School we believe play is an essential part of a child’s social, emotional, physical and cognitive development. Play empowers children to test ideas, overcome challenge, develop problem solving strategies and make sense of the world around them.

Through play our students gain a deeper understanding of themselves as learners, thinkers, problem solvers, collaborators, team players, upstanders, contributors, communicators and leaders.

In the junior school teachers play is the way we approach all learning. Teachers consider using the arts as the waka to engage and inspire and play. Teachers develop games and experiences to practice skills and strategies in authentic ways, bringing the learning to life for our tamariki.

Using this approach supports our tamariki to grow their sense of belonging and know they are valued as they transition into school.
